When she arrives on earth, her cousin is already an established super hero and does not need her protection anymore. By the time Kara comes out of it, it is 24 years later, and she is still 12. However, an accident throws her into a space cloud (I can't remember the technical name they used in the show!) that is set apart from time itself. Kara was 12 when her parents sent her to look after her infant cousin when her aunt and uncle sent him to earth. So far, I have only seen the pilot episode (that's the only one that's out yet!) however, I love it! The show follows the life of Kara, Clark Kent (Superman's) cousin. I would definitely recommend this show for tweens and teens.

In the second season, a common scene is at an alien bar. Many characters drink, but alcoholism is not an issue. (bitch, damn, ass, and hell is the worst it gets) Just know your child and what they can handle. There are also a few sexual refrences ("I couldn't help breaking in, I wanted to have divine museum sex with her!") and the like, but nothing to graphic. Once again, the word "sex" is not actually mentioned. Kara then sends the lady back to her work and scolds Mon El for acting like that. When she opens the door, we see a fully clothed woman sitting on a desk with her legs wrapped around Mon El, who is also fully clothed. In the second season, Kara is looking for her new alien charge (who she was supposed to be watching) and uses her super hearing to try to find him, she then over hears a female voice saying "Mike, do you have protection?" where as Mike (Mon El) responds "You mean like a sword?" Kara then starts saying "Eww eww get it out of my ears!" and runs to find them. In the first season, Kara accidentally uses her x-ray vision on a store closet where she finds two people having sex (absolutely nothing is shown, the word "sex" is actually not spoken). My daughter has come out as lesbian, and Alex has been an important role model for her through that process. I don't know why people were complaining about gay relationships, because face it people, we live in 2018, and there are lots of gay people. Like I mentioned before, there is some romance in this show, but mostly not till the second season. There is a lot of fighting and alien ass-kicking, but nothing is to graphic. Keep in mind that this is an action show, and there is plenty of punching, kicking, and shooting, but there is not much gore shown. While on the subject of romance, there are several wonderful relationships between main characters, and while couples argue, it is usually out of concern for one another, and things are resolved in the end. Alex and Maggie are lesbian, and have a positive and loving relationship. The cast is diverse, two main characters are black and there are equal amounts of men and women. It is usually pretty simple to tell good from evil, antagonists often have sinister motives. Good messages of inclusiveness, understanding, making good choices and self sacrifice. I have been watching it with my 13 and 10 year olds, and they love it too.
